    Terminal crashes X

I recently installed Xubuntu 7.04 on an old HP6535 with a Celeron 450 and 256 of ram. Everything seems to work ok however when I try to open Terminal X crashes and restarts with the login screen and sometimes with 800x600 resolution. I can't figure this out, everything else seems to work fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    - Which one: xfce4-terminal or xterm?
    - Did you try to launch it via [Alt][F2]?

The xfce4-terminal. I tried alt-f2 but with the same results. I'll try plugging around the links you posted. Thanks
