[DESKTOP] Grey Background on resume from suspend

    I am running Kubuntu 14.04.
Whenever the system resumes from sleep, the desktop wall paper is just grey snow. Also the panel along the bottom is hard to read because of the grey snow.
Is there some setting that I can use to fix this?
Or is there some way to reload the wall paper?

I would include a screenshot but this window does not allow inserting an image only a URL to one.

Let's try something. Go to System Settings -> Input Devices -> Keyboard. Click the Advanced tab. Expand Key sequence to kill the X server and select Ctrl + Alt + Backspace. Apply the setting and close the window.

Now put your computer to sleep. Then make it resume. When the snowy desktop appears, press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. This will restart the X server. Does your desktop return to normal?
