    KDE 4.1 Volume display

Is it possible to get the volume display to work in KDE 4.1? What I mean is in KDE 3.5x, when I push the volume down button on my laptop, I get a display the shows the volume level (a bar with the volume percentage). In KDE 4.1, I don't get that. I did map the volume keys to the appropriate commands but I still don't get any visual indicator.

    Re: KDE 4.1 Volume display

I am in Intrepid, so no KDE3, and I found there is currently no KDE4 tool for this. I believe that the KDE3 tool, Kmilo, is deprecated and either unmaintaind or incompatible with KDE4.

I got around this by installing keytouch and keytouch-editor. I had to run keytouch-editor to set up my volume buttons as well as my 4 shortcut buttons on my Compaq Evo N610c. I used the amixer option when selecting actions for the volume keys, I did try compiling a Kmix plugin for it with no success. But using the amixer settings, I do get a graphical volume bar when adjusting the volume, and the volume does go up and down correctly too
