Can't run KDE after attempting to install Japanese input

Last night, I was attempting to install Japanese input capabilities in 7.10. I got to the point where I needed to restart X. So I restart X, and when I log-in again, the screen flashes (changing display modes?), and then goes right back to the login screen.

I cannot, after any sort of attempts, get KDE or KDE w/ XGL to start. Failsafe works just fine. I have removed just about everything I could think of relating to Japanese input (as well as all of the fonts I installed prior to restarting X), but to no avail.

My video card is a Radeon X800, which was a PITA to get to work with kubuntu, and I think the fglrx drivers might somehow be related.

If anyone has any idea on how to get this fixed, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Re: Can't run KDE after attempting to install Japanese input

I just formatted and re-installed. Only took about an hour, and I had spent about 4 hours trying to figure out how to get KDE back up.

The install was only about 3 days old ,so it's not like a catastrophe.
