[System] Not able to apply color schemes right away anymore

    Operating System: Kubuntu 25.04
    KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
    KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
    Qt Version: 6.8.3
    Kernel Version: 6.14.0-28-generic (64-bit)
    Graphics Platform: Wayland

Whenever I edit my color scheme and click “Save” it no longer lets me just click on apply in order to apply the changes I made. Instead, I have to click on a different color scheme, apply that one, then go back & highlight & apply the one I originally edited.

On Kubuntu 24.04 that uses kde 5, I didn’t have this issue. I could just save my changes and click on apply and the changes would show up. I'm not sure if going from kde5 to 6 has anything to do with this, or if it's a wayland thing.

I used to see this in Plasma 5, back in the olden times somewhere. Or was it KDE 4??

You might try, instead of editing the current theme, saving the scheme under a new name, if you aren't already doing so. It is what worked for me back in the day. I think caching might be a factor here, so there may not be a simple workaround other than restarting plasmashell, or doing what you are doing now (easier). If editing a stock scheme, since there is one installed system-wide that can't be edited as a normal user, you now technically have two identical schemes, which might also be a factor.

I don't have this issue when editing a stock scheme that I have saved under a different name, at least on Plasma 6.4.4
