[Desktop] Restored Sessions only partially restored after reboot

24.04 and 24.10 would restore all windows after reboot, but 25.04 only brings back one instance of each application and everything is centered in the main screen.

I like to use a lot of different windows for faster access, with 4 different directories open in dolphin and a few kate documents that I am working on, along with my favorite calendaring app - dayjournal (sadly abandoned).

In 25.04, whether it is the "restore a manually saved session" or saving the last desktop, only one instance of dolphin is launched and only one kate, and dayjournal is never auto-launched.

I might have a weird set of config files, because I did a new install of 25.04, but then copied all the config files for 24.04 - which is a different version of plasma? But I don't know what the change or delete to see what is causing the behavior issues on reboot.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Having all the windows pop up and in their last positions again would be very helpful.

    Thanks

I believe this is a problem with Wayland, IIRC. It simply doesn't fully support session restoration at the moment. You may have to switch back to an X11 session if this is important to you. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in soon!

      Could be.

I have never changed the default in 24.04 or 24.10 either - is that Wayland? or do those still use X11? The behavior seemed to be correct on both of those, as well as every previous version that I can remember back to 18.04.
