What year is EOL for 24.04?

This page says 3 years (kubuntu) https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/...pick-noble-lts
This page says 8 years (kubuntu) (2032) https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/
This page says 5 years (ubuntu) https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/noble...se-notes/39890
This page says 3 years (kubuntu) https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NobleNumbat/...eNotes/Kubuntu

I am going to guess it's actually 3 years but it sure would be nice if they all matched, or explained why they are not the same time frame.

As Kubuntu is nothing else than Ubuntu "under the hood" I would dare to say about the support period:
    • "Officially" 3 years, including support/fixes for the GUI = until 2027.
    • "Unofficially" 5 years, excluding support/fixes for the GUI - so only for the Ubuntu parts = until 2029.
    • "Really unofficially" 10 years, excluding support/fixes for the GUI - so only for the Ubuntu parts with Ubuntu Pro = until 2034.
I have three paying customers (I am in early retirement, but there are some remaining ones…) who are still running Kubuntu 20.04 LTS on desktop computers for their work and don't want to upgrade until Kubuntu 24.04.1 LTS - so far without problems…

I don't get the "8 years/until April 2032" statement on Kubuntu's website/dowload page, though. Perhaps it has something to do with Ubuntu Pro, but why would that include Kubuntu's GUI all of a sudden?
Or is there an extra, paid "extended Kubuntu support" I have not heard of yet?

Kubuntu supports the Plasma parts for three years. Which in reality is actually only as long as KDE supports the version it is using.
Support = mostly security fixes.. For Plasma that would include any potential minor releases IF there are any from KDE.

The underlying OS - kernel, system libraries and other items, will have the standard Ubuntu support life. So, for all intents and purposes, Kubuntu LTS won't really go EOL until 2029.
Yes, it is messy, but since Kubuntu is not a separate OS, there is no way to separate the Kubuntu bits from the Ubuntu bits. The Kubuntu team just doesn't supply any Plasma updates or anything to the Ubuntu archives past three years.

I just found it odd that the Kubuntu Download page is the most wrong. I wish someone would fix it or explain all the options for the new users that show up.
I only use an LTS because I hate installing OS'.
        Just my rant.

No, Kubuntu 3 year is accurate, and valid for what most users find important.
It is left that way to be simple and direct.
All of the official Ubuntu Flavours chose many years ago to have a three year support lifespan.

I myself here, have for no good reason, made it more complicated. This is not a new question and I tend to over-explain.

Aaaah.....someone should ask them which is accurate, or for clarification. Since it is three on the release notes. I suspect some stray copypasta or typo?
(Ubuntu itself has upped lifespan at the OS level recently, I forgot about that, but not eight years for ESM - that is 10 years, so 2032 is for 22.04's Expanded Expanded Security Maintenance.)
In any case, it will/should be exactly as I mentioned previously, the Plasma desktop bits won't see any security or maintenance once those stop coming from KDE, but the actual OS will. So the important bits will be supported.

Note that from the ESM page, packages in the "Universe" component - which includes all of KDE, Plasma, Frameworks, etc - have "best effort"

Request for more info was sent.
