    partitionmanager asks for a password

    Dear all,

I copied kubuntu25.iso on a USB flash drive. I started the computer on it (with ventoy). As I wanted to use the partitionsmanager to look at the partitions of my computer, it asked me for a password. I couldn't believe it. Thereafter I read that kubuntu25 has a lot of problems, which I agreed.

A few weeks later, I copied kubuntu24.iso on a USB flash drive. I started the computer on it (still with ventoy). As I wanted to use the partitionmanager to look at the partitions of my computer, it also asked me for a password. I couldn't believe it once more.

Please how can you explain this ? In both cases, I never set any password.
In the past I started 100 times from a USB flash drive and I never had to enter any password.

KDE Partition Manager has always prompted for your password.
Windows no longer obstruct my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Not from the live USB session.

I can't reproduce this, and I use Ventoy as well
So, trying 25.04 it in a VM, it did ask for a password. It definitely did not do this when I installed 25.04 on my laptop last week. Or rather I do not recall it, and it is something I would have noted immediately.

You don't need to use a live session to use Partition Manager, especially if you are just looking.

But in this case, just click Ok, without entering a password

      This is strange for sure.

Thank you Snowhog, claydoh and skyfishgoo.
I wanted to see the partition before installing Kubuntu.
I will click on OK without giving any password.

also if you choose the manual or "something else" method in the installer you will get a partition manager like view of all your disks ... i always use this method rather than trust the installer to know where i want to put linux.
