[SOLVED] installation failed grub failed to create boot

Since my HP Pavillion dv6 1030us won't work with 25.04 then I decided to try 24.04 on it. I verified it the USB has the 64 bit version on it. Why would grub try to install a 32 bit loader for a 64 install?

By the way the live session was fast. 3d acceleration and gtk worked fast considering the age of the machine. 25.05 probably has incompatable mesa/gtk/Intel gpu. To bad 25.04 can't boot at the moment.

This was solved by reinstalling and choosing ext4 instead of BTRFS, which I normally choose. I guessed that the BTRFS file system was only in diapers when HP invented this laptop, so it probably isn't well supported by the hardware. I'm running tests now, but 3D hardware acceleration seems fine. I will give 25.04 a few months, and maybe the Ubuntu devs will get that fixed.

How do I mark a thread as solved?

The 3d hardware acceleration is bad again, but this thread was more about the grub install error, and that has been solved. I have another thread about the 3d stuff. I will mark this thread solved.

The BIOS/MBR grub is 32 bit, regardless of the OS. If you boot the install media in BIOS/MBR (aka legacy) mode, that's what you get.
