Windows 10 won't boot from USB

I'm trying to install Kubuntu 24.04.03 on a Windows machine.
I have created a new partition on the hard drive.
Is the .iso file on the USB seen as bootable?
I access the boot order function(F9) and change it to the usb drive but the system just ignores this and boots windows anyway.
    Any help would be welcome.

You can't usually burn a WIndows ISO like you can a Linux one, so you usually have to use alternative methods, in Linux.
You will find mentions if a thing called WOEusb, but I have never ever had it work successfully, last time I tried it was about 6 months ago.

You can also manually partition a USB stick with two partitions, mount the Windows ISO and copy files into the different partitions, along these lines (there is a better description for this, I just haven't found it, or written one myself) It is MUCH easier than it sounds.

But by far the most handy thing to use here is Ventoy -- no burning, and you can simply copy as many ISO images you can fit, and you will have a boot menu for all them. Afdd and remove images as you see fit.

I keep a 'recovery' USB stick with W10, W11, clonezilla, and at least one Linux image as a sort of swiss army knife.
