I will say..... I WOULD NOT MESS WITH THOSE FIRMWARES!
Why?
Well the mem files in the github ARE THE FIRMWARE, YES.
BUT
After doing:
Code:
[FONT=monospace][COLOR=#000000]sudo cp renesas_usb_fw.mem /lib/firmware/ [/COLOR] sudo mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-$(uname -r) [/FONT]
A reboot and dmesg no longer says anything about missing firmware.. GREAT! Solved!

Nope!
Nothing in the ports worked, still...
But.. the firmware message was gone.. I tried the devices in question, and USB sticks etc.. nope... Nothing.
lscpi, shows the cards, and ports. Nothing works in the ports.
Well I needed to do something else on this install..
Reboot..
Black screen!
Reboot a few more times... Black screen with a blinking cursor! Trying a Live USB of something might have been 24.04 what ever USB was laying on the desk.. Same.. hmmmmm..
Remove card... BOOTS FINE... Ok.. glitch.. Shove card back in.. Back to the black screen.
Remove the firmware.. NOPE.
Tried another PCIe card in there with something, works fine... NOT the slot..
Remove the card, boots fine...
At this point either the firmware is holding up the card, or the firmware bricked the card after a reboot some how?? ? ? shrug...
I might play with this some more.... but unfortunately Lab Time to get this box in service is approaching so if its something specific to that box, I will never know.. The box I have to test has a working version of this card, which I never installed a thing for! The "Magic Words" some how scared that one to work? Or its a bad card...
For the new box, I've gotten another card with dedicated controller ports and will try it... and move on.. Test with the card(s) in another box..
But for now, I'd suggest not messing with those firmware files... Don't know what happened from the first reboot to the later ones... but with that card in the box, it won't boot.
