I have recently noticed a problem using some file managers to copy to an SMB share.
This seems to be as a result of a recent update to the system because it was previously working and now, although the file is copied, there seems to be something wrong with the detection system that sees the file completing copy. In the case of Dolphin there is a little graphic progress bar at the bottom of the window indicating continued processing. Eventually the only way to get out of this is to hard reset the PC, there seems no possibility to break the loop/hang.
An internet search shows this might be as a result of a regression in the newer KDEs?
Kubuntu 24.04
KDE Plasma 5.27.12
KDE Frameworks 5.115.0
QT Version 5.15.13
Kernel 6.8.0-88-generic
Does anybody have an idea about this, if I use a command line the copy works fine.
Additional little bit of information, this only happens with fairly large files. I first saw the problem with a 2.5 GB video file, smaller files (i don’t know the size limit) present no problem.
