[RESOLVED] Cannot Open Folders on Desktop

    Greetingss fellow humanss!

It is with great shame I return to these partss to grovel at your feet once again asking for help... but alass!

I am presented with a minor issue I have been ignoring for a while, thinking it would "resolve" itself with an update but the time of waiting is over and I for the life of me cannot figure out what might be causing it.

So, I turn to the EXPERTSS!

    -

For whatever reason, I cannot open folderss located on my desktop.

When I attempt to, Dolphin briefly popss up in the task bar only to disappear shortly after.

I can navigate to them with no issue, I just cannot open them from the desktop... weird!

    -
Please assist! Thank you so much

if you right click on the desktop and chose configure, what does it say for the Layout: section?

should say folder view if you want to have folders on the desktop.

Folder View is what I have.

There are folders on my desktop that I cannot double-click and open from the desktop.

Navigating to the Desktop directory in my home folder allows me to access them without issue.

      Thanks

A Bit of a breakthrough here... It would seem that NOTHING on my desktop works properly!

They all exhibit the same behavior when trying to launch a shortcut.

It will briefly show in the task bar and then disappear.

I'm beginning to think the issue runs deeper than I expected...

I am impressed with the unique issues I manage to create for myself.

I was able to get things working again by using "sudo apt purge wslu" but my snap firefox no longer works, so I DO NOT recommend that...

        I am utterly confused

What are the Permissions on the folders (on the Desktop)? Right-click > Properties > Permissions
Windows no longer obstruct my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

I am the owner and I can view and modify.

Things working now after purging wslu but some snap apps not longer launch.

a "solution" I found on reddit with no context. I do not even know what wslu is

but it seems to have eaten firefox

              wslu - https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages...n7/wslu.7.html

Notorious for creating unwanted issue. It gets installed as a dependency of certain applications, but is almost never needed.

                Thank you very much, Sir!

Shot in the dark here but might you know why my firefox snap would disappear after purging wslu?

It is the only thing I did before rebooting. The icon still lives in my application launcher and references /snap/bin/firefox , which no longer exists!

Discover also seems to think it is still installed....

I ask so that I may LEARN!

Odd... Anyhoo, issue solved. As always, your time is much appreciated

if you go to a terminal and type firefox, what happens?

if you go to the app menu > edit applications > firefox ... what does it show for Program?
