Mouse cursor size different between video games and the desktop (KDE)

    Hello,

With some video games, on my big screen with a resolution of 3840x2160, the cursor size is way smaller than the one on the Desktop. With a smaller resolution, in-game, the mouse cursor size is bigger.

I seem to recall that the DE can use different mouse cursor properties, than the default one provided by the "system". In turn, I believe those games uses the properties of the "system" mouse cursor. By "system", I mean X or Wayland.

Can someone enlighten me by telling me if my assertion is right. In any cases, can I influence the size of a cursor from a video game, apart from the settings provided by the developers through the game UI especially changing the screen resolution.

An example of game with a very small mouse cursor is "X4: Foundations". I already tried a lot of settings related to the UI, but they don't influence the mouse cursor size, except for the resolution as mentioned above.

Yes, you can change the mouse cursor through the system settings, but it will not apply to everything. For example, if I started using a red mouse cursor, and then use my browser to open a website, the cursor may change in size and become white. I don't think it's anything you can change in the computers settings. The website/game is what's causing the change.
