    [SOLVED] After upgrade to Kubuntu 23.10 info page displays "Ubuntu 12"

    After upgrade to Kubuntu 23.10 info page displays "Ubuntu 12" as below. Does anyone know what happened? It should display Kubuntu logo and "Kubuntu 23.10" title. What even is "Ubuntu 12"?

      Debian! I knew I recognize this logo from somewhere! But this is not and never was Debian 😅

      When checking version in command line it displays valid version:
      Code:
      $ lsb_release -a
      No LSB modules are available.
      Distributor ID: Ubuntu
      Description: Ubuntu 23.10
      Release: 23.10
      Codename: mantic

        It is also missing the Hardware section.

        My upgrade looks normal, here, which doesn't mean anything, really.

          In the Konsole terminal emulator

          sudo apt reinstall kinfocenter ?

          or even
          sudo apt reinstall kubuntu-desktop ?

          Perhaps post your /etc/sources.list and ("foreign") contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ directory?

          Oh, and welcome, by the way.

            It's not, I've just removed it from the screen, this information was irrevelant 😉 Sorry, should have mention that.

            Reinstaling kinfocenter didn't change anything. Reinstalling kubuntu-desktop is bigger deal, because I don't have it installed, I have desktop-base, and installing kubuntu-desktop wants to remove it and install many other packages.

            Nothing unusual in /etc/sources.list:
            Code:
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic main restricted
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic-updates main restricted
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic universe
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic-updates universe
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic multiverse
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic-updates multiverse
            deb http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ mantic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
            deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu mantic-security main restricted
            deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu mantic-security universe
            deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu mantic-security multiverse
            As for "foreign" sources:
            Code:
            deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/docker.gpg] https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu   kinetic stable

            deb [arch=amd64] https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main

            deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/signal-desktop-keyring.gpg] https://updates.signal.org/desktop/apt xenial main

            It's not that big deal, I can live with "Ubuntu 12" in my info center. Just was wondering what had happened and if anyone else has something like this also.

                My theorie:

                Perhaps therefore there are some parts/links that have changed - or are completely missing from your system- in the Kubuntu branding of Kubuntu 23.10 in comparison to the version you upgraded from…

                As an example:
                the distribution that is to be displayed in KInfoCenter is defined in /etc/xdg/kcm-about-distrorc (and in /usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kf5-settings/kcm-about-distrorc ).

                Here is the content of /etc/xdg/kcm-about-distrorc from Kubuntu 22.04 :
                Code:
                [General]
                LogoPath=/usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kubuntu-circle-128.png
                Website=https://www.kubuntu.org
                Name=Kubuntu

                  Okay, your theory seems to make sense. I've installed kubuntu-desktop with all dependencies and now my info center looks as it should do. I am upgrading my kubuntu every time the new version comes out and don't remember on which it started. Many things have changed since then.
                  Anyway, problem solved. Thank you!
