It is mostly hardware support in the kernel AFAIK, but probaly not the kernel alone entirely (Frameworks, settings, etc. … ?).
Linux is mostly worse compared to Windows and both are much worse compared to macOS regarding this.
(Laptop) power saving functions also rely heavily on the UEFI/BIOS (ACPI) and how the manufacturer implements them.

It is merely a suggestion to try a more "leading/bleeding edge" distribution for recent hardware (and the easiest way to do this would be a live medium) to generally check if this makes any difference. And to try going from there with the result of this test.

    Translation:

I can try it as a live USB system, but according to this page: https://software.opensuse.org/package/kernel-default there is only the 6.3.2 kernel
What other libraries/programs can still be responsible for non-working resume?

started a topic Ryzen 7490HS laptop, not waking up from sleep

Ryzen 7490HS laptop, not waking up from sleep

    Hi,

new kubuntu 23.04 install, with the default 6.2 kernel or with the 6.3.4 from https://code.launchpad.net/~cappelik...ive/ubuntu/ppa the system goes to sleep after some time away,
but it does not react to keyboard or mouse to get back alive.

with my last i5 6200 laptop i sometimes had to touch the power button just before moving the mousepad to wake it. Doesn't work either.

i am aware that this is new hardware and probably a kernel or maybe linux-firmware? problem, but since my google queries haven't shown any hits im asking here.

long time linux user with ubuntu - first time kubuntu - love it
Working...
