    Wifi usb adapter

    Good evening
I premise that I am a neophyte and I have installed on my laptop Hp dv6 Kubuntu 22.10.
The internal wifi card works only at 2.4 Ghz and I would like to use the adapter in question to take advantage of the 5 Ghz band as well.
I installed the drivers following some guides on the net and giving the command "dkms status" from terminal I get:
    bcmwl/6.30.223.271+bdcom, 5.19.0-21-generic, x86_64: installed
    bcmwl/6.30.223.271+bdcom, 5.19.0-31-generic, x86_64: installed
    rtl8821cu/5.12.0.4, 5.19.0-31-generic, x86_64: installed

Everything seems fine but I can't find the adapter anywhere to make the change.
    Could you please help me?
    Thank you

We need to see more info about the USB adapter.

      lsusb will show it.

The ID numbers and info will be useful to make sure that you are trying to use the correct driver.
Which specific instructions are you following? They could be old, outdated, or just wrong.

This matters as kernel change, drivers get old, and github forks stop being maintained, etc.
But rtl8821CU is the correct device

The device doesn't work so I'd better buy another one

There is a good website with a list of supported USB-WIFI adapters - if you want to buy a new one that works ootb:
