    Plasma 5.25 on Kubuntu 22.04

    Can I assume that Plasma 5.25 will not be ported into the Kubuntu backports for 22.04? I assume this since this cycle is already on 5.25.4 and the problems of compatibility have apparently not been solved. The current version, 5.24.6, is working fine, by the way, but I was hoping for a newer Plasma. Maybe Neon is the answer.

    I have 5.25.4 - on Neon. Nothing special.

      I believe that they are also working with the Kubuntu Focus people to work out some laptop issues as well

        OK, thanks. Maybe I'll just wait for 22.10, since everything's working all right now.

          If we resolve the issue the Kubuntu Focus people have specific to their setup, that may go to the normal backports PPA. However, for now it can be tried with that 'extras' PPA for jammy.

            I have a KFocus system. What is the issue they are having? Just curious as I haven't been prompted yet to 22.04.1 and wonder if related?

              IIRC. Sometimes black lockscreen on resume with Nvidia, and initial background on external displays. Leave options gone in context menu. Vertical panel items order gets changed and some things not clickable.

              I don't see any of these on a Dell laptop.

              I do now have a Focus M2 Gen4 , so will be able to test soon.

                My is GEN 1. It's has been a great machine.

                I did some testing with the initial image for their upgrade to 22.04. Waiting for 22.04.1 so not sure of the delay showing up.

                  22.04.1 is just a freshened ISO image, you already have 22.04.1 if you are fully updated.

                  lsb_release -a should show the full release/OS info. KInfoCenter does not show minor revisions afaik

                    ah, so it does show in Description string as 22.04.1 but . Odd that my Conky isn't showing correctly. Now to see what my Conky is actually pulling. They must have changed the structure somewhere. Well OK then, there you go! Thank you!

                      it probably reads /etc/os-release ( cat /etc/os-release)
                      As you can see, there are section that you might be able to use to get Conky to show a different value, it probably is just reading the standard VERSION_ID value, if they changed that to add .1, .2, etc it would probably break a lot of things that need to differentiate releases, such as third party items that support multiple Ubuntu releases, or anything where the ".x" is irrelevant, and/or is incorrect/messy for things using regular expressions

                      Code:
                      $ cat /etc/os-release
                      PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS"
                      NAME="Ubuntu"
                      VERSION_ID="22.04"
                      VERSION="22.04.1 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish)"
                      VERSION_CODENAME=jammy

                        It is odd, what I had Conky set to is issue. The update didn't update that entry for some odd reason. No biggie. I thought the whole thing was odd as updates have always been as such but I guess a fluke. I'm good!
