    [ABANDONED] Black Screen after reboot

Been using Impish since it was released with no real issues. Today I booted up and received a black screen with a mouse pointer. Multiple reboots resulted in the same.

Tried Ctrl Alt T and it showed a terminal...sometimes. Sometimes it didn't do anything.
Reinstalled clean from live USB and after sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist -upgrade, I got the same issue. I wanted to try booting into an older kernel but Grub was not showing during boot and booting with shift pressed, did not seem to bring up grub.

After leaving the system sitting for a while, the lock screen shows as if nothing is wrong. Entering my password brings me to the black screen. Seems that I actually have no desktop and task bar.

I gave up fooling around and installed the LTS version. Considering an actual hardware failure. Everything works great on LTS and 6 reboots were fine. Seems to be something up with the latest packages.

Anyone else seeing this issue? My hardware listed below.

You probably saw this in your searching of the web for a solution, but if not ...

Thanks for the heads up GreyGeek. I actually did not come across that.
I am going to mark this solved. Doesn't look like I am going to be able to fix this myself. I will give it another look in a couple months. Until then, i am running good under LTS 20.4.3
