[SOLVED] can't add extensions or themes to chromium AppImage

If I start chromium.AppImage and go to the Chrome Web store, I don't get an Add button anywhere.

Google searches say I have to enable something in settings, but nothing referring to Google or a store is in there.

Is this a consequence of using the AppImage version? If not, how do I get the Add button?

From where did you get the AppImage? I'd like to try it.

FWIW, some months ago, there was talk of Google limiting what chromium could do relative to Google Chrome. Many distro maintainers objected but I didn't keep up with developments.

Either manually install them (after enabling Developer mode in the Extensions area) which of course is tedious, as you have to find and download the physical files

Download and see if installing the uma versiion of the deb works on 21.04, else scroll down a little to see how to add Mint's DEB repo for Chromium, which has full Chrome Web Store support.
I have zero idea if this works in 21.04. though.

fwiw, the appiomage linked to by verndog above does NOT have this issue.

I checked out chromium in Discover, and it has installed a flatpak version that enables the chrome store, and I'll give that a try. (I assume that Discover will keep it updated, which I completely neglected to consider with the AppImage.) I only use chromium for the occasional support issue.
