    Thunderbird new mail count

    Hi,

I hope this is the right place for this question. (Admin note: It wasn't. Thunderbird is not a KDE application - moved.)

I've recently installed 20.04 and most things are going swimmingly, but I have a niggle: the Thunderbird icon in the task manager doesn't show a count of new messages. I've done a bit of searching and it seems like it should be possible but none of the suggested fixes have done anything for me. Can someone please help me out?

    Many thanks,

    Jim

Thunderbird, when it went to version 60, broke all the extensions that could do this, and I couldn't find a new one.

However, birdtray works for me, and seems very active. It puts an indicator in the system tray, which suits me because I have thunderbird on another desktop, with the task manager showing only windows on the current desktop.

I followed the build instructions, but there's a flatpak on flathub.
    Regards, John Little

If you read the https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/th.../releasenotes/ you would see that,

Native notifications on Linux are now re-enabled
So the new mail count doesn't show up in the icon anymore.

I would review all of them so you know what's fixed, changed, new and known issues.
