Kubuntu on mid 2010 Mac Mini

I had this Mac Mini up for sale since I can't do anything with Mac OS and it's as slow as treacle. It drives me nuts and recently I don't know why I bought it in the first place. I had no takers for it and I'm not ready to go to a store to sell it for peanuts, so...

Today I bit the bullet and wiped the HFS Mac partition and installed Kubuntu 20.04. I looked at other desktops for such an ancient machine but decided KDE was lighter (except for window managers)

The machine is basically a music/video player down in the bar so doesn't need any office software so I did a minimal install and installed needed multimedia software after.

Bloody hell, what a dog! Until I installed the broadcom driver and Nvidia driver!

Now the it works better than it did under High Sierra, even the Apple wireless keyboard works! Today I repurposed an old machine and I'm feeling chuffed! I think I'll buy myself another beer!

    2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor
    8Gb RAM (originally 2Gb)
