    [SOLVED] Limited software in Kubuntu 20.04?

    /var/log/installer/media-info has Kubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Alpha amd64 (20200123) and

    /var/log/installer/telemetry has (with a bit of formatting)
    Code:
    {
    "Media": "Kubuntu 20.04 LTS \"Focal Fossa\" - Alpha amd64 (20200123)",
    "Type": "KDE",
    "OEM": false,
    "PartitionMethod": "use_device",
    "DownloadUpdates": false,
    "Language": "en",
    "Minimal": false,
    "RestrictedAddons": false,
    "Stages": {"0": "language",
             "3": "language",
             "39": "page",
             "56": "Form",
             "79": "Form",
             "96": "start_install",
             "114": "page",
             "121": "Form",
             "200": "user_done",
             "956": "done"}
    }
    From the above, it's clear that I didn't choose the minimal install option. But a lot of software is missing relative to 18.04. I do see LibreOffice but had to install kalarm and both akonadi-server and kdepim-runtime (to get kalarm working.

    Is the omission of things like KMail and Konversation by design or did I somehow end up with a limited install (that works quite well!)?

    I looked at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/da...amd64.manifest and there's no akonadi* there even today.

    I don't believe that Focal Fossa is anywhere near final in terms of committed software. There's a schedule floating around somewhere, but the release schedule is still in the early Beta stages.

      According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FocalFossa/ReleaseSchedule, Feb 27 was Feature Freeze:
      At this point we stop introducing new features, packages, and APIs, and concentrate on fixing bugs in the development release.
      Source: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureFreeze

      Of course, it's possible that Kubuntu has its own schedule.

            Great info! Personally, if KDEPim goes away, as a default install, it would be a day of celebration.

            I know there are some users whose lives are built around Akonadi, so KDEPim could be an option. Thunderbird with the Lightning plugin is a terrific product, and much more elegant. Please make it so
