[PLASMA 5] A recurring problem with keyboard shortcuts or hotkeys.

I decided to do a fresh reinstall of Kubuntu 20.04.2 and get a similar problem I have on a secondary laptop, no hotkeys work.

So after the install I right clicked the Menu starter and selected to edit the applications.
In this menu I selected and assigned new hotkeys to a bunch of applications, like Meta+T for thunderbird and Meta+M for Muon.
Contrary to the past these shortcuts don't work at all.

Also, System Settings does not allow me to add any shortcuts.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hi Tenuis !
I always love to see your little "ant" running around!

Just to make sure that folks reading the thread are all on the same page:

    Settings
Workspace / custom shortcuts / examples ( tick the blue box )
    Edit
    Global Shortcuts
    Send Keyboard input

I do not use such myself but tried adding something like 'R+G" and it appeared in Settings in 20.04.2 ON A TOWER NOT a laptop, but I did not actually "use" it.

It appeared to "be there" , is this what you are describing , like invoking VLC using "R+G"

There are lots more smart people than me that will soon pop in I'm sure.

And, again, love your little scurrying "ant" !

Yes that's one way of setting them.
Weird is Meta+M (Muon) and Meta+D (Dolphin) are presently working, Meta+T (Thunderbird) and Meta+N (Firefox, ex Netscape) are set but don't work.

About the ant, some 10 years ago I've seen a screen that did have real little insects inside...
