NEON hangs at login screen after pass entered

    Hey all,

    NEON fully up to date.
I went away for the weekend, came back, and find that I do not get past the login screen.
I enter correct pass and nothing happens, it just sits there.
If I enter the incorrect pass it acts as it should, ie blues out the pass field.

    The mouse and keyboard work.

    TFL,

Drop to a terminal using ctrl-alt-f3 or higher.

Login manually and check to see if you have a home directory that's readable.

Yes, thanks, I do have a readable file system.
I know this as I have a dual boot setup (one partition Neon that is now not booting fully as described) and one Kubuntu 20.04 (which I am using atm).
Using Kub I can see and read the files on the other partition.

        Anyone any thoughts ?

Strongly considering flattening it and going back to Kub LTS.
This is the second time I have a non-functional system since starting with NEON about 6 months or so back.
