Bluetooth device is not detected

on my laptop, no Bluetooth device detected. I thought that maybe my laptop's internal Bluetooth device is broken so I bought a plug-use USB Bluetooth dongle but also it doesn't work.
On my linux, blueman-applet 2.1.2 installed.

Does your computer have a function key that turns bluetooth on or off?

EDIT: I'm beginning to see a pattern with this and other posts.
My Nvidia and Mouse work great but my touchpad, which is disabled in Settings when the mouse is plugged in, is not disabled. When I use "xinput --list" the touch pad doesn't show. However, if I press the Fn+F7 key, which toggles the touch pad, it turns off, which is what I want, so as a work-a-round I can live with that. The only things that have changed since the touch pad stopped working is 1) a kernel upgrade, and 2) Nvidia upgrade, both on 1/8/21.

After reading postings by the CEO of the Mozilla Foundation I decided to install Brave and remove FireFox from my system. Brave works very nicely and is very fast. The only complaint I have about it is that I can't find an extension that gives me a work "email link" capability like I had running FF. The only extension that allows me to chose an email vendor besides Google and the other tech giants doesn't honor the mailto settings and wants to use xdg-open, which is crazy. So, I'm back to the old way, C&P.

I used xdg-settings to set thunderbird as something xdg-open should see, and call xdg-email,

but it doesn't work.

Besides the email problem I ran into too many editing issues with Brave, so I rolled back and eliminated it. Back to Waterfox, which does great.
