[Post-Install] Installer, Partition issue

Hello, I finally decided to install Kbuntu to try out KDE Plasma. I usually create my partitions in advance, for some strange reason the installer refused to accept my partitions and decided to make it’s own inadequate choice and slightly ruined the layout and made it unworkable. Is this a known issue and will it be resolved?

I don't think so. The manual partitioning setup will either work, or it will stop. Calamares (the installer) Does want the EFI partition to be >300Mb with a manual install and will complain if it isn't, but it does allow you to continue allow you to install. The installer is used by quite a few distros, and I have not come across any instances of it just doing its own thing, though this is just my own observations and travels.

The automatic partitioning will do its thing automatically. of course.

With manual partitions, you do need to assign the mount points for the EFI (/boot/efi) and "/", as well as /home if you are using a separate one for this.

I used Gparted to create a 40 and 60GB partition, when I ran the installation, the installer refused to accept my choices, and it split the 40GB partition in two and installed kbuntu in one partition and Plasma in the other. It gave no error messages.

Yes, I created a / and a /home partition, it's a laptop with a Windows and Linux Mint install as well.

What does "refused to accept my choices" mean? Did you choose the manual option or something else? The installer will only do what you have told it do do here.

You need to use the Manual Partition option, then select the three partitions and assign them to the appropriate mount points. Your existing EFI > /boot/efi (and make sure the boot flag is set - it probably is already) , as well as assigning your / and /home as appropriate.

Using the existing Windows EFI partition WILL make the installer gripe, as the installer devs really want a larger partition here for valid reason, but it does not stop the install process.
