[SOLVED] Updates

How do you turn off all updates including security? I was disappointing when one update took away my option for X11 but I went with it. A later update made my machine unusable so I did a re-install and turned off updates. After about the 4th security update, today, I have now lost all of my display options except one, 640 x 480. Looks like another re-install. I'm tired of updates wreaking havoc with my machine, I want to turn all of them off.

Launch Discover. Click on Settings. Look for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS in the right pane. You have to scroll down to it. Click on Software Sources. Enter your password. Click on the Updates tab. Uncheck any checked items under Software updates. Click on Close.

I don't know if this helps or not, as I'm still using 24.04, but had a similar situation. Using Discover to update, it took away my graphic system and left me with a low resolution display. I was using the Nvidia 470 driver, but the update wiped it away and installed Wayland instead, and the system driver only supported the low resolution.. I returned to the previous setup and it works OK now. When I do updates, I use the terminal command, as the offending updates (all based on Nvidia) have been held back and thus do not load. With Discover, however, they are not held back, and if I have to use that for updates (almost all are Flatpaks) I have to manually untick the Nvidia updates (plus the X11 ones, there are 3 I think). A bit of a bother, true, and eventually I will have to get a new graphics card I suppose, as Nvidia doesn't support the 470 driver for Wayland. But for now, that's how I solved that problem.

Why not use the command line for flatpak updates?

Discover for me is a notification mechanism only (almost, there's the odd KDE store item).
