[Pre-Install] Kubuntu 26.04 LiveUSB is not starting on laptop

I have issue with Kubuntu 26.04.
It is not starting on my older laptop(Core i5 460m 8GB RAM).
    Ubuntu 26.04 starts fine.
Kubuntu hangs on the loading screen.
If i press Escape key, i see that Kubuntu tries to connect to archive.ubuntu.com and gets `Temporary failure resolving archive.ubuntu.com`

    MD5SUM of disk is ok.

Question: is it planned that LiveUSB is not working without internet?
Or is it bug in install disk?

    Try the usual things:
    • Verify the downloaded ISO, not just the created USB stick.
    • Try a different USB if possible
    • Use different tools, such as Ventoy or Etcher, if you have not already.
    • What graphics does it use?
The hybrid EFI/BIOS-MBR ISOs seem more touchy about being written, which is a reason why I suggest ventoy -- no burning.

It is possible that you are at the limit, age-wise, with a 16-year-old CPU. Plasma does want to use OpenGL, not sure if this is more so than Gnome tbh.

Try allocating more memory to graphics in your BIOS if this option is available.

Try booting in Safe Graphics mode from the grub boot menu.

    Self-built: Asus PRIME B550M-K/Ryzen 5600GT/32Gb/Intel ARC B580 12Gb/KDE neon

    HP Chromebook 14: i5-1135G7/8Gb/512Gb SSD/KDE Linux

ISO SHA256SUM is same like on https://kubuntu.org/alternative-downloads/.
      I'm already using Ventoy.
And Ubuntu 26.04 was booted from same USB.
      GPU is Intel's HD graphics.
Safe mode graphics also is not working.

can you post the output of
        Code:
        lspci | grep VGA
from a working Ubuntu 26.04 live session?

Sorry for not answering this part.

But, no internet is not required for the live USB nor the installer.
I do not see any significant reports of the ISO not booting or hanging like this.

So most likely something is wrong on the USB, or it is something in the hardware that it does not like. Considering that Ubuntu (Gnome) does boot, this kind of points at the USB or ISO image.
Or that Plasma needs a bit more graphics oomph, maybe? It does not seem likely, but it is a possibility.

So, to eliminate the easy parts, using a different USB, using a different tool to create a USB, are quicker easy things to try. Increasing video ram is also a possible help, if it set too low for a modern desktop.

When booting, hit <esc> immediately and see if you can spot ay errors -- usually in red. The last thing you see on your screen is not always going to be the cause of a problem here.

You might even try switching to a Vt with ctrl-alt-f3 or similar and using journalctl -p 3 to show just the errors.
I think the login is "kubuntu" or "live" and a blank password, assuming that you can get to the Vt.

Note that you may see a lot of red; this is not necessarily bad or out of the ordinary, like the networking one.

Using -p 4 instead of -p 3 will show warnings as well, which will also probably have a LOT of output.

How did you format and install the live .iso on the USB stick? If Ubuntu works Kubuntu should too. Try a different method of loading it into the stick, I find MKUSB is the most reliable. On the boot menu press the "e" key to edit out the lines "quiet splash" then you will be able to see in real time what is causing your boot issues.

              It is default Ventoy.
              I have 2 Partitions.
First for Ventoy code to boot, second -> for ISO images.
I'm sure that USB stic is not an issue.
I have added Debian 13.5 KDE Live Image and it has booted fine.

              Now. I'm really confused.
              Kubuntu boots.
              In gui.
              Without issues.
              WTF?
              2 Questions:
              What had changed?
Why in first boot i was not able to get UI?

We are talking about computers here. What do you expect? Exact same parameters = different outcome. What a surprise. Computers...
