[Desktop] Bug since Plasma 6 - certain Breeze (widget) icons in larger panels displayed only in black-and-white

I have finally (!) tried to officially report this to the KDE Bugtracking System, but no joy: My account is no longer recognized (it has not been used for several years, though).
Perhaps I’m misremembering the password, but resetting it doesn’t work either - nor does creating a completely new account…
So I’ve given up on it for now and am writing this post instead.

    The Bug:
Since KDE Plasma 6.0.x / kf6-breeze-icon-theme certain (widget) icons are displayed only in black-and-white / their "symbolic" version (if this is the correct term) when a panel gets larger and the icons along with it - instead of changing to the colour version:

In Plasma 5 / breeze-icon-theme this has not been the case (the final Kubuntu LTS version with Plasma 5 is 24.04).
There is a threshold for the panel size (I believe around 40 px): Below this threshold the black-and-white version of certain (widget) icons is displayed while above it the colour version appears (which looks significantly better in larger panels):

So this now concerns the current Kubuntu LTS version as well as 26.04 has moved to Plasma 6, of course.
However, it is not just Kubuntu 26.06 LTS that is affected: This also occurs e.g. in openSUSE with KDE Plasma 6 or Arch with KDE Plasma 6…
If I use the Oxygen icon theme that e.g. comes with Plasma 6 in openSUSE Tumbleweed, colour icons are correctly displayed for certain (widget) icons, but some other icon sets have the same bug as Breeze in Plasma 6.

I would really like to stick with Breeze (I like it a lot and have really gotten used to it) - perhaps someone who cares will read this.

important things to do after installation (24/26.04)get rid of Snap script (20.04 +)
install traditional Firefox script (22.04 +) • install traditional Thunderbird script (24.04 +)
