Upgrade took 2 hours and 55 minutes on my HP Pavilion g7 laptop without any hiccups. After the reboot, everything is working fine so far.

why almost 3hrs, mine took like 45min. (and my lappy is ancient)
does it depend on whatever/how much stuff you have on PC?
also , did mine through terminal , IMO always faster ?

IME the downloads don't have the major contribution to the time of a release upgrade, it's the number and nature of the packages to be updated, as some packages take a while.Regards, John LittleComment
