[Post-Install] Reopening applications (left open) after restarting, only one instance.

I recently installed Kubuntu 26.04 to test it out and consider migrating from 24.04.4.

This means it's my first time using KDE 6 and Wayland (in KDE6, I previously tried Wayland for a couple of months on another distro, and the result wasn't positive for me).

After resolving some issues that were new to me, I've reached a point where I don't know if the cause is Wayland, Plasma 6, or a combination of both.

I hope I'm explaining myself clearly: I'm one of those people who doesn't shut down their computer; I use `suspend-then-hibernate`. To my pleasant surprise, it worked from day one on 26.04 (it didn't on 24.04), but...like everyone else, I sometimes restart.

I've been doing this for years, and it's how I like it: when I restart, the applications I'd left open (I always leave applications open) reopen automatically, like Kate with open files, but... more importantly, different instances of the browser and other browsers I use with their respective tabs.

This worked perfectly in 24.04 and earlier versions. I'd restart my PC, and Kate, Dolphin, etc., would open automatically. Except for Firefox, the other browsers wouldn't open automatically, but the moment I opened the browser I'd left open, the same instances and windows would open.

(Firefox is the only one that does this by default). I forgot to mention, kWallet would open the moment I opened a browser or application that required kWallet.

On April 26th, this doesn't happen. I restart, and then the browser I had left open automatically opens (making kwallet the first thing I see). After entering my password, only one instance of the browser opens (with its corresponding tabs), but only one instance.

If I had four open before the restart, only one opens afterward.

I've tried everything I could find, configurations and everything, and nothing works. Every time I restart, only one browser instance opens, and for me, it's a loss of information. I'm someone who has several instances open, and each instance has its own tabs.

Please excuse me if I haven't explained myself well.

In another thread, I'll post why Kate, Dolphin, and kwallet open on the secondary monitor instead of the primary one immediately after restarting, but that will be for another thread.

Do you have any ideas? This is an important issue for me; I've been working like this for years, even on my company computer...

i Just tried it on 26.04.

I opened 4 instances with 3 tabs each one on firefox. Restart and all of them are there again. NO fault.

My firefox app is a snap ( default ).

Standard trouble-shooting. Create a new user. Log in with that user. See if the expected behavior occurs with the new user, or if the unexpected behavior persists. This will tell us if the issue is in some configuration file(s) in your regular user profile, or if it is something to do with the software itself.
Windows no longer obstruct my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

I haven't tried it with Firefox yet, but I suppose it will work with it. I haven't tried it because I uninstalled it from Snap. I'm going to install it via a script from here: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/...n-installation or via the official PPA; I don't know which one to choose yet.

I noticed this as soon as I realized it, and the same thing happens with another user.
        It's Wayland's behavior.
I installed X11, and everything works normally with it. I open four instances of Chrome (for example), five tabs in each instance. Upon restarting, when I open Chrome, all five instances open with their respective tabs. With Wayland, the same thing happens: only one instance opens (besides, with Wayland, everything opens in the secondary monitor—I'm referring to Dolphin, Kate, TB...if I left them open before restarting).
The thing is, I thought, since Wayland is now available... I should stick with Wayland and start working with it, but from what I can see, it's not possible. I don't know if it's a problem on my end (I can do a fresh install without issue, since I'm testing right now) or if it's Wayland's behavior...
If it's the latter, I'll have to make X11 the permanent installation once I finish migrating from 24.04 to 26.04...
