[Soapbox] Phoronix compares performance of Windows 11 to Ubuntu 26.04

Yesterdays news (literally), but perhaps still worth reading for some people:

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Leads Over Windows 11 In Creator Workstation Performance

Yes, it's GNOME not KDE Plasma and yes there are probably default Snaps in the system (I have no idea how much influence Snaps actually have on these benchmarks - if any at all).
Debian LXQt • Kubuntu • openSUSE KDE • Linux Mint • Windows • macOS
Desktop: HP Elite SFF 805 G9 • Laptop: Apple MacBook Pro 13" • and others

important things to do after installation (24/26.04)get rid of Snap script (20.04 +)
install traditional Firefox script (22.04 +) • install traditional Thunderbird script (24.04 +)

None , as they didn't appear to test Firefox, or the firmware updater, which has little relevance here. And Snap itself does not use a lot of resources, so would not really be noticed on many machines. Less than Docker or podman, maybe?

An interesting thing, and completely unscientific -- on two different systems, one running FF snap and the other running FF from Mozilla both usinf clean and fresh new profiles, the snap version used less ram than the deb, even if you include any snap processes that did not exist on the 'deb' machine.

The Snap is much less 'busy' on a stock new tab page, compared to Mozilla's, which may be a cause. 50-75 mib or so? Not a lot, really, but interesting.
Again, NOT scientific, and I didn't spend much time on it, because I don't really care
