I actually just installed steam on 25.10. I did not create a directory for downloads and it just automatically goes to /home/<user>/.local/share/Steam.

I installed from the .deb installer and this is how it looks like.
Flatpack and Snap versions are container-like sandboxes and so what you see is normal behavior.

Ok, so, I uninstalled Steam, nuked personal data in the Steam install folders, nuked Snap with - https://gitlab.com/scripts94/kubuntu-get-rid-of-snap - and now that I can find software as Flatpak, reinstalled Steam as a Flatpak, and still getting the /run/usr/1000 ... WTH? >.<

    Steam and file system oddness.

So. I try to install my Steam games to a folder under my Home folder so I can easily access the game folders. So I go into Steam, go to Settings, Storage, go to add a new folder , add /home/llloyd/Steam , and when I go to switch to that folder I instead see /RUN/USER/1000/DOC/AA225CEB/STEAM . Eh?! Apologies, but I am 6 levels of confused, one isn't like the other.
