[Post-Install] VLC crashing when playing video files

I've had a few issues after upgrading to 24.10 but I've resolved most of them by searching around. However, I'm having issues with VLC playing video. Audio works fine, but video, it just crashes without any log message or warning. I've searched around but most of the workarounds deal with NVIDIA GPU. I have a Radeon integrated GPU. It points to changing the default setting of "Automatic" for the video output section under "Video" to VDPAU. Of course, that's for the old Nvidia driver. Nothing works except for "XVIDEO (XCB). But from what I read, XCB:
The XVideo output (XCB) is a specific video output module within the VLC media player, used on systems running the X Window System (X11), primarily GNU/Linux. It is one of several available output methods (like OpenGL, Wayland, etc.) and is not a video file "format" itself.
Does this mean that I'm falling back to X11? There's a "Wayland Shared Video Memory Output" option. I've tried it but the window keeps blinking as it expands and contracts with audio only, no video. My system specs are in my signature in case someone wants to know. Has anyone experienced the same issue? If so, is there a better workaround?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I know there's Haruna which works but I've never really used it except for the few times VLC crashed on me.

25.10 defaults to Plasma (Wayland). Package plasma-session-x11 has to be installed in order to be able to select Plasma (X11) at login. I would install that package and then logout / log in and select Plasma (X11) and see if the issue resolves.

I'm aware of that snowhogg, I thought that moving to Wayland completely would have been less painful. Tried pushing as much as I could but now I'm forced to install plasma x-11 as it's not just VLC misbehaving, Anydesk which I use to help my family members with occasional computer hiccups is doing the same. As soon as I connect to the remote machine, the Anydesk window just closes on me.

Honestly, I was of the impression that because I was using the Wayland option prior to 25.10 at login, it was not using X-11 at all, hence the apps I used fared well. However, with no X-11 installed, I'm proven otherwise. Thanks though for the input.

I know that you know haruna, but really you should start using it, it integrates very nicely with plasma since it's also made by KDE. I used vlc long time ago, but ever since I started using haruna, I never looked back. VLC is having issues lately even on android.

Also just a pro tip, make sure kubuntu-restricted-extras is installed for proper codecs.
