[SOLVED] Trouble with nvidia driver 580

Coming from kubuntu 24.04 (after last updating the computer was totally dead) I've installed 25.10.
Now have a problem with the graphic driver, if I select "nouveau" all the monitor resolutions are detected and automatically select 2560x1440 (or something like) but cannot see the mouse pointer (only cannot see, the mouse works if I move it on an active button).
If I select one of the various nvidia 580 drivers available the mouse pointer is ok, but the system reports that my monitor only support 1920x1080 resolution.
The graphic board is a geforce gtx 1650, and the hardware is quite old but fast, is a HP proliant ML310e Gen8 v2 with 32 Gb ram, a xeon quad core processor and a hardware raid driver with 4 x 1TB disks in raid 5.
Any idea about how to solve the problem??
Please if you need more informations let me know what to post here.

Too bad, as I mentioned above, even asking for 550 installation the installer automatically install 550 and 580 but in driver-manager I only see various 580 modes and noveau.
Anyway have solved the problem deactivating virtualization parameters in bios, now 580 works fine.

25.10 defaults to Plasma (Wayland). You can try logging in with Plasma (X11) to see if this issue self resolves. In order to login using Plasma (X11), you first have to install package plasma-session-x11.
Windows no longer obstruct my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

For the gtx 1650 you could try to use the 550 driver. It might give better results.

Tried, but using command apt install nvidia-driver-550 the system anyway installs 580 and 550 and I don't know how to switch between them

Tried, switched to X11 session at first login and rebooted the system, just to be sure. Same behavior as with Wayland, Screen configuration reports that my monitor is only capable of 1920x1080 resolution, that's not true.

ChatGPT does have some useful advice for your problem.

#1 For Nouveau drivers. Disable the Hardware Cursor.
You can force the cursor to be rendered in software. This can help until they fix the bug in the newer kernel.

#2 From your dmesg logs, the NVIDIA 580 driver loads, but fails to initialize the GPU fully.
ChatGPT suggests to disable IOMMU / VT-d in BIOS.
