Am I correct in believing that in 25.10 Synaptic Package Manager doesn't work well? I get the feeling that we are being walked into Discover as the prime candidate.

It works fine if you login with Plasma (X11). You have to install package plasma-session-x11 first.Windows no longer obstruct my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Thanks. I'll give it a try but moving forward, if we lose the ability to install X11.....then what? I'm kind of feeling a loss of Linux freedom to choose.Originally posted by Snowhog View PostIt works fine if you login with Plasma (X11). You have to install package plasma-session-x11 first.

Google search: Is X11 going to be dropped and totally unsupported in KDE Plasma anytime soon?
AI Overview
No, X11 is not going to be dropped and totally unsupported in KDE Plasma anytime soon. The X11 session continues to be officially maintained in KDE Plasma, and there is no firm timeline for its removal.
Here is the current situation:- Continued Maintenance: KDE developers have stated that the Plasma X11 session continues to be maintained. This means they ensure it compiles, deploys, and that severely broken bug reports are addressed.
- No Firm Timeline for Removal: Developers expect X11 support to last for at least another one to two years, and potentially longer. The ultimate goal is to only drop support when the Wayland experience is so complete that even "hardcore" X11 users don't notice anything missing.
- Wayland as Default: Many major distributions, including Arch, Fedora, KDE neon, and Kubuntu, have already switched to Wayland as the default session for new installations of Plasma 6. Telemetry data shows a majority of Plasma users are now on Wayland.
- Focus on Wayland: While X11 is maintained, new features are focused exclusively on Wayland. Less critical X11-specific bugs are unlikely to be fixed unless a third party pays for the work.
- Distro Choice: The decision to entirely remove the X11 session package from a distribution's repository (as Fedora KDE has done) is currently up to individual distributions, not the upstream KDE project.

It is working now but no repositories now in Synaptic and could it be that I Modernized as requested on the terminal after update/upgrade? Was everything moved to Sources.list.d and Synaptic isn't reading from it? Maybe it is because I am accustomed to it, maybe it is because I consider it to be more lean but I like Synaptic over Discovery. This is why I am trying to get it worked out.
