desktop activities vs multiple desktop widgets!!!?

Hii! .. i am new to linux.. I have Kubuntu 9.10 on my system and have succesfully upgraded it to kde4.4.2... now I actually want to know what is all this hype about desktop activities.. Is it not the same if i have 6 different virtual desktops and have specific widgets on each of these desktops...

Please somebody throw some light on this .. and yes I have gone through:-

As I understand it, Desktop Activities allows you to fully customize each Desktop, i.e., you can have separate Panels, Backgrounds, their own widgets, etc.
