KDE SC 4.4 RC2 has not yet been released, we're having problems with the kdebindings module.

I've shortly looked at it, and don't see any easy fix for me, so I've decided
to go ahead and release RC2 as is.

Many thanks to all who helped in the last days to get this into a compiling
    state!

      Re: KDE 4.4 RC2

Attempting to add desktop widgets seems to crash plasma. :/

      Other than that, seems good.

Yes, I have the same issue. Printer configuration system seems to be broken in RC2.

        Also

1-) Does anyone else experienced any graphichal artifacts or repainting issues with panel plasmoids' animations ? I mean, sliding animations of panel plasmoids & KDE notifications leave graphical traces on desktop. I've been experiencing this since Beta 1 and it is not fixed yet. Should I file this as a bug?

2-) Sometimes when I logout/restart or shut down my system, KNetwork manager OR Klipper gives segmentation faults (randomly). Am I the only one with this problem? I suspect that, there is a bug in the system tray plasmoid.

I imagine some of those widgets(depending on who created/ packaged them) might need to update or rebuild them for the newer KDE version

It's not even adding the widgets, but rather the Add Widgets Panel that seems to trigger it. Looks good, but when I hit the right arrow on the panel to page through them, it seems to stop responding. Then plasma crashes. Could just be me. Or you may very well be correct.

The widgets on the "widget menu" vanish when I click the arrow.

1-) Does anyone else experienced any graphichal artifacts or repainting issues with panel plasmoids' animations ?
              Yes, with a vertical panel.

No, it's not. Not 100% sure it's a KDE issue, though.

                  Re: KDE 4.4 RC2

After fiddled with the RC2, I manage to find some workarounds

                  - To add a plasmoid: select the plasmoid, the drag it to your desired place. Don't close the Add new Widget dialog yet instead right click the plasmoid and select its settings to open the plasmoid settings. Close the Plasmoid settings and close Add New Widget dialog. Your plasma will crash anyway, but at least the plasmoid will stay.
                  - To have a new ksplash, remove the ksplash cache in .kde/cache-halcyon/ksplashx/

same here.. but was also broken in RC1. (both my 32 and 64 bit machines).

smooth on the 64-bit w/ the new ati card...
an issue on the 32bit w/ old nvidia card when adding a widget it is most noticable.

every time on my desktop (64-bit ati card) knetworkmanager crashes.. on the 32-bit machine only some times but always knetworkmanager if it does, i have attempted to file the bug but since i am in the process of logging out i kinda get kicked before i can complete the backtrace.

Has anybody been able to get nepomuk/strigi working correctly without doing a fresh reinstall as suggested in some other thread? I went ahead and deleted my old pre-virtuoso tags database since none of them tags were showing up in dolphin and started over. Now I can see and create tags fine in Dolphin and Gwenview but I can't do anything with them because search still doesn't work. In Dolphin a search finishes instantly with no results. In Gwenview the clicking on a tag just does nothing.

The sesame backend was super slow but at least it worked out of the box. Really hoping Virtuoso becomes a little more functional by the final release.

                        Thanks idyllic, your workaround worked.

Regarding Nepomuk, it has been hit and miss for me. Sometimes it works, and the search starts right up, but most of the time it doesn't and pops up an annoying window stating that it's not working. But even when I did get it working, it makes the KDE file dialog in OpenOffice.org glacially slow. In the end, I just decided to keep it off.

RC3 was released today, so I'm hoping these issues are fixed and we will see some Kubuntu packages.

nepomuk, is also hit and miss for me on my 64 bit it works, on every other machine not so much (although i have yet to try to use it on the netbook) even on the machine it works on it still seams slower for finding files then kfind..

I'm on a 64-bit machine as well. Maybe there is something to that.

So, are we not getting RC3 packages?

Think so since only 3 days left to the release of the final KDE SC 4.4.

Also in RC2, I can't page up / page down in Dolphin. Shift Selection using keyboard also doesn't work in Dolphin either. Can someone confirm this?
