I a have 64 bit installation with an ATI 4870 HD. All of these buttons are useless and I must use the terminal comands to do these operations. Anyone knows why?

Something went wrong during the installation.
When I had a similar situation after an update of my 32b system I found right-clicking the buttons made a difference.
Weird as it may sound after doing this a few times all came back to normal. -
