KpackageKit working???? No updates coming in!!!

I've had kubuntu installed for several days now, KpackageKit has blank space for the updates, but in the main window it tells me there are "unknown updates" yet will not install any....??

What am I doing wrong? apt-get update and upgrade do nothing also....

So the update seems to work ok.

Did you check the installed packages against the available ( > The Karmic-changes Archives) packages ?


Here the installed "kdebase-workspace" version (for the KDE 4.3.2) is:

I added the ppa for kde 4.3.3 just to see what would happen, and it did an update for kde. but there are still what KpackageKit refers to as "unknown updates."

Just to be sure I restored the sources.list to original (I can't think of anything else...) and KpackageKit still tells me there are "unknown updates", I keep thinking (maybe that's my problem ) and maybe could there be a problem with authentication? But if that were the case, then it would have not updated kde from the ppa... (does that sound right?)

its better to use apt-get or synaptic.

Kubuntu Specific Known Issues

* The kpackagekit package manager used in Kubuntu 9.10 does not notify users if the packages they are installing come from repositories that are not secured with PGP. Users that wish to be informed of any packages installed from unsigned sources should use the apt-get command line tool as a workaround. (256245)

Options

This is Linux, there are lot of application and you could use whatever works with you. The developers are setting some applications as default applications but you don't have to use them...
