I can't get rid of these from the panel. What are they, and how do I get rid of them? They keep multiplying. See attachment for pic.

The first three (with the arrows) show the icon of Dolphin the file manager.
When you press CTRL+ESC you get a list of processes and (hopefully) in the first column the same icons.
When hoovering the mouse you should see some information and by right-clicking them you can select to send a signal like TERM(minate) or KILL.
In Systemsetting/Advanced/SessionManagement there's a check button to start up with a new/empty session, this can help preventing a restart of an unwanted process or application.
