Help The new guy

hello! I am allmost new to kubuntu, and after testing the 9.4 version for a few months i decided to upgrade to 9.10. Now i have a problem - when i put my mouse over a desktop icon, a black window with content or description of that item appears. some kind of a tooltip or smth. i searched a lot for this but did not found a method to disable this behaviour for new kubuntu, only for older ones. i must add that i have the desktop set up as a folder view. Anyone knows how to get rid of those windows?

i allready upgraded. there is no adverse effect either, the only problem is that i do not know how to disable these tooltips. i can not find a desktop behavior or smth.

Wishes ( to add a way to disable the plasma tooltips):

(edit):
It is up to plasmoid developer - if he/she wants to add a plasma tooltip. The nice way to do it - is to add an option to enable/disable the tooltip.

Out of curiosity, what brand and type of video card do you use?

Have you tried with the desktop effects off?
