VLC 1.0 one instance without enqueing

I would like my one instance of VLC to switch straight away to playing a new file when I click on it, rather than await for me to exit the other one already playing. That is how I understod ticking "Allow only one instance" and unticking "Enque files when in one instance mode". I thought this would function with the final version of 1.0.

I am very pleased with the Windows version - which functions in this respect, but not with the Kubuntu version: vlc-1.0.0-1ubuntu1 (nor the two available launchpad versions). What can be done?

Here the VLC 1.0.0 "Goldeneye", Preferences: Allow only one instance = On, Enqueue files when in one instance mode = Off.

The VLC will start new instance immediately when clicking new clip.

Have you tried to remove the VLC setting files from the ~/.config/vlc/ ?

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

Thanks, yes only one instance = On, and enqueue files when in one instance mode = Off. Yes I have tried to remove the VLC settings from vlcrc.

You are right that VLC will start a new instance immediately when clicking on a new clip (new link). What I want to do is to use my remote control with lirc, i.e. button 1 sends the the irexec command "config = vlc /path/playlist1", button 2 sends "config = vlc /path/playlist2.

With windows and Mandriva Goldeneye can change to the new playlist immediately, but not with the Ubuntu, SuSE and Fedora versions of Goldeneye.
