    [Solved] Kubuntu 9.10 and broadcom 43225 (HP dv7 3160es)

Hi everyone, I have bought a new notebook (HP pavilion dv7 3160es). I have two problems with it, one is with the wif configuration.

The notebook have a broadcom 43225 802.11b/g/n card.

When I install kubuntu 9.10 karmic koala, I haven't any wireless card. But in the hardware controller (privative dirvers) I saw it have detected a privative driver for the wireless card:

    Controlador inalambrico Broadcom STA

These package contains Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4321-, andBCM4322-based hardware.

I activated the driver and now if I excute a iwconfig I see I new network interface with a wireless interface:

    mcarmen@matri:~$ iwconfig
    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

But if I tried to see the wireless network that sees, executing the iwlist eth2 scan. and it says "Interface doesn't support scanning.".

And I don't know what to do ...

If anybody can help me, I appreciate it a lot

After installing your driver you must right click on the Internet icon in your System tray to Edit Connections. You can get the information for that from your service provider.

Thank you!! Now I can connect via wifi . The problem is that from 9.04, knetworkManager has change a lot ... Also I was confused about the output of iwconfig and iwlist

You are welcome. If this solved your problem please go to the first post and "Edit" The Subject by adding [Solved]. That will let people know there may be a solution there for them too. If you have other problems, start a new thread. Happy computing.
