Analoge dialup or adsl connection on Karmic?

I have done neither for about 10 years but tomorrow a friend is buying a new desktop PC and would like me install Kubuntu on it.

Since we are so close to final and beta seems to be behaving I will be install Karmic 64bit.

Does anyone have any experience with dial up or adsl (i am not sure which connection he has) with karmic?

I will be setting up his machine from my place using my ethernet connection but will have to set up his connection once I move it over to his atelier which only has a phone line.

Any help is greatly appreciated as always

The only time I've done that in Linux it was automatically set up in IpCop, so I can't help you. But I just wanted to remind you to perhaps load Dillo before you take the machine off the lan as I think it might be a good choice for dialup.

Providing the modem is supported and recognised KPPP should be a quite foolproof way of setting up the dial in.
