    kde 4.4 beta rc

    i'm testing it right now with kde beta ppa
    wifi works and applications looks like running using alt+f2
    the HUGE PROBLEM i have is that i miss the desktop and bottom panel
    how to get it back ?
    tried removing plasma directory but no success

      Use alt-F2 to get the runner, then open konsole, and type:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install plasma-desktop
      Once it completes, type
      Code:
      plasma-desktop
      See if that restores your desktop.

      If it does, you may need to install the kubuntu-desktop package. If when you reboot, there is no desktop, you may need to put plasma-desktop into your autostart list.

        guess i'm waiting for stable 4.4
        i only find problems with kdenlive with current backported version

          I doubt your problem is hardware dependent, I've run 4.4 since RC1 and it behaves reasonably well, just some plasma-only crashes when changing widgets.

            I am testing the 1/26/10 Daily Build LiveCD of Kubuntu Lucid Lynx and find it to be work well, for the most part. There are some warts for me, however:

            Stellarium does not display the star field.
            Changing the time fails, even as root.
