    Problem with Upgrading to Koala HELP PLEASE!

    attached is the error box I got when i tried to upgrade.

    What version of Kubuntu are you trying to upgrade from - what version are you currently running?

      I am trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 and I also have kubuntu version 8. I think

      I am so confused about how to fix this

        In your Jaunty 9.04, was that also an upgrade from an early version - Intrepid? Before Jaunty, were you still running KDE 3 (3.5.10), or had you upgraded fully to KDE 4?

          I downloaded KDE 3 while I was using Jaunty 9.04

            In order to have done that, you either added a PPA repository in order to get KDE 3 - as Jaunty uses KDE 4 - or you were running Jaunty Remix. Either of these statements correct? I'm not sure that a normal upgrade to Karmic is going to work here. Obviously, the KDE 3 on your system is giving the process 'problems.' Stay tuned though, as others may have suggestions for you.

              it's kubuntu-desktop i guess. does that make a difference?

                No. But you say, and it appears, that you have KDE 3 installed. Verify this. Click on Help > About KDE on any running KDE application. What version of KDE is reported?

                  looks like I downloaded it with a third party packet,
                  I am currently un installing that to that I can re install using the repositories.
                  I think i have it covered but not 100% yet
