    Upgrade or Fresh Install?

OK so I haven't installed Karmic yet.... first time I haven't been using at least a beta of Kubuntu since Dapper... but anyway... I've only tried the LiveCD of it so far.

How are upgrades going at this point? I read of some issues, as there always are... but I've had pretty good results with upgrading in the past.

    Re: Upgrade or Fresh Install?

Generally I always rename my home folder, do a fresh install, create my user, then copy my home folder back. However, I do admit that Kubuntu upgrades go pretty well.

Fresh install is safer, upgrade will be faster if all goes well. Up to you

I always backup my home directory to external media (DVD-R or HDD) and do a fresh install. It is a bit more work but it is worth it. Keeping extra backups of important files is never a bad idea anyway.

I'm a fan of fresh installs too.. but hoping to be lazy. It went mostly good for me last time around.. although I've had a few nagging issues with Plasma.

        Thanks!
