Can't upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 [solved]

When I try to run the upgrade via the update manager as instructed on the Kubuntu webpage I get the following error message via a popup window: Distribution upgrade process exited with code 127

I get no other error message.

nevermind. worked when I upgraded from console.

I had problem "distribution upgrade process exited with code 127"
Then, I had replaced all 'jaunty' references with 'karmic' in my /etc/apt/sources.list.
$sudo bash
#apt-get update
#apt-get dist-upgrade
